Kelty O'Donoghue is a professional equestrian pursuing the five-star level in eventing. Kelty specializes in the training, competition, and sales of eventing horses, as well as select horses in other disciplines. She offers tailored training programs and individualized purchase/sales consultation for riders and owners seeking thoughtful, high‑quality guidance.
Raised on her family farm in Carbondale, Illinois, Kelty began riding and training at a young age. Her development has been shaped by extensive work with respected equestrians including Jill and Mark O'Donoghue, Jan Byyny, and Lynn Symansky. Over nearly two decades in the sport, she has built a distinguished competitive record across national and international events. Kelty began competing professionally in 2008 aboard Totally Irish and Playtime, steadily advancing through the FEI levels, and earning a reputation for consistency and horsemanship. Her partnership with Kilcannon Kandy Kid (Kegan) has produced recent notable results at the 2023 Virginia Horse Trials CCI3*-S, the 2023 Kentucky Horse Park CCI3*-S, the 2024 Bromont CCI3*-L, and the 2025 Maryland CCI3*-L. With a competitive history marked by both longevity, and upward momentum, she is presently focused on advancing to the four‑star level, and expanding her string of international‑caliber horses.
As a current three‑star eventer and accomplished all‑around equestrian, Kelty’s dedication to the sport led her to establish Kelty O'Donoghue Equestrian (KOE), based in Round Hill (Loudoun County), within the northern Virginia piedmont region. Kelty's program of services includes top-tier management of horses, and premium training for horse/rider teams. The bucolic farm provides a tranquil environment with ample turnout, and best-in-class training facilities, ensuring the balanced care of horses in the KOE program. Her focus on a limited group of clients enables Kelty to dedicate individual attention to each horse and rider, fostering comprehensive, and effective development.
Kelty shares her love of horses and interest in equine sport with her husband Frank Alosa, who works as a Thoroughbred bloodstock agent. The couple wed in summer of 2023, and reside on the farm with their horses and affectionate barn dogs.
